Mikael Santos Lima was a 29-year-old young man who worked as a hairdresser in Franca. He was last seen on May 27, a Wednesday, when he left home on a motorcycle. From that moment on, he did not return or respond to calls and messages from family members. Faced with the disappearance, the family registered a police report, and the Civil Police began investigations to try to locate the young man. During this period in which Mikael was missing, the family claims to have been the target of extortion attempts made by an acquaintance of the victim. Mikael's body was found on June 3, on a road in the farm region known as Paiolzinho, in rural Franca. The location occurred accidentally by a 15-year-old teenager who lives in the region. He said he smelled a strong smell coming from the forest and, upon checking, he saw the victim's body and motorcycle. According to authorities and reports from family members, the body was already in an advanced state of decomposition and had marks from gunshots, including on the head. Delegate Márcio Murari, from the General Investigations Department (DIG), confirmed that investigations already pointed to that region as the victim's likely whereabouts even before the body was officially located. The Civil Police are awaiting the issuance of expert reports and judicial authorization for breaches of confidentiality to understand what the crime was like and who participated in it. Murari stated that, after confirming the death, people will be interviewed to identify the motivation. A new interrogation with the detained suspect is also not ruled out.
