Kinnaur district administration has decided to remove dangerous stones and repair roads in Nigulsari and Nathpa to reduce the risk of landslides during monsoon. In view of this, this system will be affected from June 8, 2026 to July 30, 2026. Due to this, not only the local people but also the tourists visiting different tourist places of Kinnaur from across the country will have to face problems, because a large number of tourists are reaching the tourist places like Sangla, Kalpa and Chitkul of Kinnaur every day. In such a situation, traveling to Kinnaur during day time will trouble the tourists. However, it is a matter of relief that the road will not be completely closed. The ban on vehicles will be temporary. As per the instructions issued by the office of the Superintendent of Police (SP) Kinnaur, the closure will be done from Km 316/880 to 317/250 near Nigulsari and from Km 330/350 to 330/560 at Nathpa. Instructions to make people aware: The police administration has directed the concerned agencies to effectively implement traffic management, public awareness and security measures, so that there is minimum inconvenience to the passengers and any untoward incident can be avoided. The administration has appealed to the people to get information about road closure time before travelling, and plan their journey accordingly. Let us tell you that every year during monsoon, the National Highway remains closed for several days in Nigulsari and Nathpa due to heavy landslides. This cuts off the connectivity of Kinnaur district with other parts of the state. In view of this, Kinnaur district administration has decided to repair the road before the rainy season.
